Drama in the workplace

I fully expect there will be some drama at Caged today. Someone called out a DJ for playing shitty ass music in Caged in a very public way, via notice in the employee group. He went on to say that he comes in to some oldies shit man wtf is that. first techno then this shit man common.

First things first, Billy Idol is not shit. Sure, it’s not metal, but you know what? The accused DJ was spinning during off hours and probably only sent out a notice because she wanted some company while she couldn’t sleep. She wouldn’t be the first to do that, and as far as I know, there isn’t any problem with DJs going off genre during off hours. And the techno bit was probably referring to Simple, who tends to stray from metal a bit (mostly when we’ve got no VIPs). He had specific permission to play whatever he wanted because no one else stepped up to cover that shift and he went out of his way to move his friend’s birthday party to the club so he could do both at the same time. A lot of people at the club don’t care for his off genre sets, which is understandable considering it is a themed club, but there’s no question about his character. He’s always been the most willing to pick up a shift during my hours. So while this person, who I had befriended and come to enjoy associating with before his month-long hiatus, has every right to express his opinions about things going on in the club, he definitely overstepped some boundaries by sending out a notice to the employee group and creating unnecessary drama. I heard that he and another DJ actually took the stream away from the accused before sending out that notice. He’s been fired and ejected from all of the club groups, and though the land info doesn’t show it yet, I heard he was banned from the sim. His accomplice, as far as I know, received no such punishment.

These events bring up all sorts of issues that I’ve been meaning to write about, but I’ll save that for another entry. I’m just so surprised at my friend’s behavior. He’s always been opinionated, but it’s usually in a light-hearted and friendly way. The way he dealt with his dissatisfaction was just not cool.
